Privacy Policy

Periwell helps you track and understand your perimenopause symptoms. We built Periwell to be private by design: your health data is stored on your device, and we never sell it or share it for advertising. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Periwell mobile app and the periwell.app website.

The short version

• Your health data stays on your device. Symptom logs, cycle entries, mood and sleep notes, MRS assessments, and your profile are stored locally on your phone — not on our servers.
• We never sell your data and never use your health information for advertising.
• No account required. You can use Periwell without creating an account or signing in.
• You are in control. You can export or permanently delete all of your data from within the app at any time.

Information we collect

Health and wellness data you enter (stored on your device)

When you use Periwell you may log symptoms, severity ratings, cycle events, mood, sleep, medications, and complete questionnaires such as the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS). This information is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit it to our servers, and we cannot read it.

Analytics and usage data

To understand how the app is used and to improve it, we use Google Firebase Analytics. This collects de-identified product interaction events (for example, which screens are opened or which features are used) along with device and app information and analytics identifiers. We deliberately do not send your symptom content, severity values, cycle dates, MRS scores, or any other health details to analytics.

Crash and diagnostic data

We use Sentry to capture crash reports and technical diagnostics so we can fix bugs. These reports contain device and error information, not your health logs.

Subscriptions and purchases

Periwell offers an optional subscription (Periwell Plus). Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store — we never receive or store your payment card details. We use RevenueCat and Superwall to manage subscription status and present offers; they receive a non-identifying purchase/entitlement identifier, not your health data.

Website data

On periwell.app we use privacy-friendly Vercel Analytics to measure aggregate traffic. If you join our newsletter or contact us, we collect the email address and message you provide (processed by Resend) to respond to you and send the content you requested.

How we use information

• To provide the app's tracking, insights, and Health Report features.
• To diagnose problems, prevent crashes, and improve performance and usability.
• To manage subscriptions and provide premium features.
• To respond to your support requests and, if you opt in, send you our newsletter.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your health data with third parties for their own marketing or advertising. We share limited, non-health data only with the service providers described above (Firebase, Sentry, Apple, RevenueCat, Superwall, Vercel, Resend) acting on our behalf, and only as needed to run Periwell. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Your choices and rights

• Export your data. Generate and export a Health Report from Me → Manage my data → Export Health Report.
• Delete your data. Permanently erase all local data from Me → Manage my data → Delete all local data, or by uninstalling the app.
• Notifications. Reminders are optional and can be turned off in the app or in your device settings.
• Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold. Contact us using the details below and we will respond consistent with applicable law.

Data retention

Health data you enter is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics and crash data are retained by our providers for limited periods in line with their standard policies. Newsletter and support emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Security

Periwell stores your data locally and uses your device's built-in protections. Data transmitted to our service providers is encrypted in transit using standard HTTPS/TLS. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

Periwell is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
