Crushing Exhaustion

The Behavior You See

"She is tired all the time, wants to go to bed at 8 PM, and has stopped doing weekend activities she used to love."

The Biological Reality

She is likely experiencing chronic micro-awakenings. Night sweats and anxiety (driven by those hormone drops) can wake her 5-10 times a night. Even if she thinks she's sleeping, she is losing REM and deep sleep. Her exhaustion is physiological sleep deprivation, not laziness or depression.

Do Not Say

  • "You went to bed at 9, how are you still tired?"
  • "We never do anything fun anymore."
  • "You just need to push through it."

What To Do Instead

  • "Take the morning to sleep. I'll take the kids/dogs out of the house."
  • "Lower the bedroom temperature to 65°F (18°C) without complaining."
  • "Ask if she's using a tracker like Periwell to see if HRT or sleep aids are actually increasing her sleep quality."

Doctors respond to hard data. Encourage her to track these symptoms in the Periwell app so she has proof of what she's experiencing when she goes to her appointment.
